It’s easy to get lost looking for a certain vendor you need, but in time, I learned the layout. Since the town is the laggiest are, I can’t wait to get out of it when I’m in there. You really need to sit down and pay attention to learn these systems - something that a game really has not made me want to do, but Dauntless is close to making me want to make that time commitment. There is a lot of gear that has a different kind of elemental resistance and damage boost but this is also a little cumbersome to unpack. I’m crafting and upgrading weapons with the materials I gain on my hunts, but I don’t really know what I need, or where to get it. It’s a lot to learn and, at a quick glance, it’s a little hard to grasp at first.

#DAUNTLESS SWITCH UPGRADE#
You need to spend time in the town to find your quest, craft and upgrade weapons and armor, and buy new items. Some of it may be new release jitters that will get worked out I just worry that, with the Switch not being as powerful as the other platforms, this may always be an issue. I have experienced some matchmaking issues, and lag, but not enough to hurt my game experience. When in the actual hunt, the game has mostly run smoothly. There are a lot of other players connected so it makes sense that this is where it would happen. So far I have experienced a decent amount of lag and slow down when in the town area. My other concern is purely technical, based on the Switch hardware. I know I’m still early, but for now, I’m hopeful. The free to play aspect worries me, but also helps me: I have nothing to lose since its free, so why not give it a shot? It worries me - if I stick with it - what the paywall will be.

This being on the Switch, and allowing me to take it with me, makes me feel that’s this is an obstacle I can overcome. This is why I never really was able to jump into some others. It’s a big, and demanding, game this is where my concerns come in, on both a personal and technical level.Ī game of this size takes a big time commitment.
